So my more loyal followers, this is the end to a story that began last month. June 28th, to be exact. I have been blogging since August 21, 2009. I started over at Searching. Right from the beginning I made it clear I did not care much for my job. I also made it clear I do love vodka and chocolate. PMS is never a very good time for me and as a rule, my patience is limited. Check out the PMS Chronicles for further 'clarification'. Then in December, my husband got fucked over with his job. We struggled for a good three/four months until he got his current job. My job continued to be hard, get harder and pushed me to my limits. I blogged through it all.
On June 28th, it was brought to my attention that someone had brought my blog to my employer's attention. Today, I was fired; talk about your negative attention.
Mixed feelings, to say the least. I am relieved to be done with that kind of work. I am panicked in regards to the financial future of our family. I am nervous at the prospect of starting a new job IF I am fortunate enough to find one. I feel so very stupid because this could've been all so easily avoided. Of course I never intended for my employer to read my blogs but there is that stupid saying about the 'road to Hell being paved with good intentions'. I feel irresponsible. I am embarrassed.
And? I am free.
You are free... this is not the worst thing that could happen, in fact I know all of your 'loyal followers" believe you are on to bigger and better things
ReplyDeleteAngela know that there are no mistakes - even when we feel we are making them - all is for a reason and if this did not happen just as it has - your shinning star would not be where it is supposed to be going...put your faith in yourself and follow your passion - and fuck them bastards - you are way to great to be involved with their type anyway! I love you and know that this too will pass!
ReplyDeleteI just came across your blog (via Sassy Crumudgeon - I liked your comment) and what a shocking first post to read! I'm so sorry that you got fired and I hope everything works out for you (things always do work out the way they are supposed to anyway).
ReplyDeleteBest of luck, and looking on the bright side, congratulations on your freedom
Lori-I will always be thankful we met! You are such a good soul and I love you too and value our friendship immensely.
ReplyDeleteSara Louise-thanks! I'm feeling pretty positive and as long as we have groceries and live indoors, good enough. Seriously though I'm feeling so relieved and panicked at the same time. Thanks for stopping by though! Hope you do again. There won't always be so much drama, I promise.
Sorry but, f*ck 'em. Everything in this life happens for a reason and I am certain yours will be to find something better and that makes you happier. Best of luck from a fellow unemployed blogger. XoXo
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for awhile now and was quite riveted throughout the whole job situation. I'm sorry it ended this way, if it means anything, you always kept it very vague, anonymous and hilarious to read. I'm not so sure that you actually did anything wrong, but from the eyes of your employer, well, I guess it's hard to not take it all personally. I don't know.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, you clearly hated that place, so I'm going to focus on the positive and say congrats on the freedom! The sky's the limit!
Annah-Thanks. I truly am happier already. Panicked but happy.
ReplyDeleteCristina-Thanks to you too! Free free free; I just wish it paid better ;)
I am so sorry to hear that you have to worry about your finances. I am sorry to hear that you feel embarrassed and I won't tell you how you SHOULD feel. (Psych major...sorry)! BUT! Ahh..there is always a BUT! At the risk of being SOOOO cliche, this happened for a reason. There is something better for you out there and you won't find it working at a place that didn't make you happy. Hmmm...writing for a profession won't pay a ton of bills but you are fantastic at it so....
ReplyDeleteI have faith that your attributes and your spirit will be appreciated as they should be at the next job!
